Cruelty Free Make-up and Skincare Favourites

Hello! I’m guessing you’re here because, like me, you love animals and want your beauty regime to reflect that love. Every day, more information comes out about animal testing, and as more and more people pay attention to it, the more some brands are deciding to take a stand against it! So here is the list of my favourite bits and bobs that I like to put on my face, and that animals are not forced to put on theirs.
Skincare
First up is Neal’s Yard Remedies. This beautiful, family-owned brand is one of my all-time favourites. They not only sell skincare, you can also purchase aromatherapy, homeopathy, herbal remedies and flower essences from their stores. I can honestly say, having worked for them, hand on heart, that they care. They care about you, the environment, and animals. You can read more about all of the wonderful things they do here. My favourite skincare buy from this brand is the Wild Rose Beauty Balm. This multi-functional product is so dreamy. The way I like to use it is on my lips or dry patches of skin; my friend has also told me that it works wonders on sunburns.
The minimalist brand Glossier, as well as fab makeup (get to that bit later), does a fair amount of solid skincare. For me the range is a bit hit or miss, but, my two most used products are the Moisturizing Moon Mask, for dry days where my skin needs a boost, and the Super Bounce serum for mornings and evenings.
After watching a Caroline Hirons video, I decided to try a brand I was not familiar with, January Labs. I purchased their Retexturizing Night Cream and Restorative Tonic Mist and instantly became hooked and they are both now a staple in my routine. I cannot speak highly enough of the night cream in particular, though if you have sensitive skin this one might not be for you.
Makeup
Now for the fun part. So, I am a pretty long-time user of Charlotte Tilbury‘s products, and I really enjoy using a whole handful of her products, but, at the moment, my favourite product is The Retoucher. I am also a big fan of the Filmstar Bronze & Glow, though, tragically, I recently dropped my palette and the ‘glow’ portion shattered at my feet.
Glossier, they do that ‘no-makeup makeup look’ oh so well and that happens to be my favourite look. I use the Haloscope in Quartz, Lash Slick, Cloud Paint in Beam and Dusk, Perfecting Skin Tint in Medium, Stretch Concealer in Light and Boy Brown in Brown. Yup. Moving on to Milk Makeup. At the moment, with it being so hot out I’ve been really enjoying cream products. The bronzer I’ve been loving is Milk’s Matte Bronzer in Baked. It’s very blend-able and adds a natural-looking warmth and glow to the skin.
For a setting powder, all I have been using this summer is the Veil Translucent Setting Powder from Hourglass; it isn’t too matte and it is invisible so perfect for the heat. On my lids, I’m really digging Jillian Dempsey‘s Lid Tint in Peach. It’s a bit glossy and such a summery shade. It will move around during the day so if you’re not into the crease look then maybe skip this one.
That’s pretty much it, for right now, a few honorable mentions are RMS Beauty‘s Mod Collection – this is basically the only thing I use when I’m feeling too lazy to do my make-up ‘properly’. I also love Natasha Denona‘s Chroma Crystal Top Coat in Bronze to add a little sparkle to my lids for an evening look.
