Ideas to keep us grounded during lockdown

It’s day… I don’t know… of lockdown…

Crafts – this is a great time to pick up a new hobby or take up an old one. There are some really great beginners kits out there for all sorts of things! I recently completed Fat Pom Poms Fruit Garland Kit which I loved! I’ve got a Made Weave Love kit ready to go next and a couple of embroidery kits from Etsy on the way! I’ve also been trying out watercolors, because, why not?

Houseparty (the app) – this is a great app for hanging out with your friends and playing games together. It lets you talk to lots of people at once and interact with them with things like pictionary, trivia and a game that reminds me of cards against humanity… kind of. Last night I went to a wine tasting which was hilarious. I had a lovely time.

Cooking – this is a great way to de-stress! You could make it a challenge to use up whatever you’ve already got in the house, or you could try one of my recipes here.

Exercise – we’re lucky we can still go out for our daily exercise, so make the most of it! Even if it’s just for a walk, going outside can be hugely beneficial to our mental wellbeing. Miss your gym buddy? Try facetiming them so that you can still work out together and motivate each other!

Mindfulness – now’s a great time to practice mindfulness; this can help a lot when trying to deal with stress and anxiety. You could try just practicing 1 minute a day, focusing on one sensation in the body and go from there!
